Triangle PR Fundraises for Coronavirus Homeless

Manchester agency Triangle PR is undertaking an isolation-adapted triathlon, tackling three of the UK’s favourite fundraising challenges from lockdown, to raise vital funds for homeless young people in response to Centrepoint’s emergency coronavirus appeal.

The ‘Triangathlon’ will see a five-strong team cycle the equivalent distance from Land’s End to John o’ Groats, run the corresponding length of Hadrian’s Wall and scale the height of Scafell Pike in stairs. The total distance of almost 1000 miles will be achieved through a combination of at-home exercise equipment, once-daily outdoor exercise allowance, and motivational team video calls.

The consultancy had already pledged to support the charity’s work to support vulnerable young people in Manchester throughout 2020, when they were called upon to adapt plans and step up efforts.

Regional fundraising manager for Centrepoint, Hannah Jones, said: “The pandemic has made our need for funds more acute than ever, with many planned fundraising events and donations having to be abandoned, while the costs of adapting services to provide shelter and support services safely has gone up.

“And all this comes at a time when young people are at greater risk: Our national Helpline reported a 59% spike in the number of calls in just one day from young people, some of whom are facing homelessness as a result of the pandemic.”

Chris Hamer, Triangle MD commented on the team’s efforts: “At this precarious time, the challenges Centrepoint face in providing shelter, food and support, while keeping their own workers safe with PPE and adapted work spaces, are greater than ever, so every penny really does count for the young people they support. We hope people will dig deep to support our ‘Triangathlon’!”
