When the call went out to build a much-needed community centre in West Kensington, Dartford-based flooring specialist, Arcadia, and tremco illbruck donated their skills and materials to achieve a fast, quality flooring installation.
From the outset, TREMCO’s Area Sales Manager and technical advisory staff cooperated closely with the flooring contractor and project consultants to ensure the correct products were specified and supplied on time to meet the physical and logistical requirements of a unique project. A fast-track system solution was essential due to the compressed construction timetable with TREMCO personnel not only visiting site to carry out visual inspections and to take RH readings, but also scheduling a just-in-time evening delivery to respect the lack of on-site storage space, as well as the time constraints. Advice was also offered to the personnel involved to help achieve the optimum quality and rapid installation times sought.
In an intense 14-hour period, Arcadia put a 10-strong team to work sealing and levelling the new composite concrete decks, in preparation for laying the vinyl and rubber floor finishes within the community centre and boxing gymnasium.
In order to permit the early installation of floorcoverings across new concrete or sand/cement screeds, two coats of TREMCO ES600 Moisture Vapour Suppressant are normally applied, though in some areas of the Bay 20 Community Centre, the contractor did apply an additional layer due to the circumstances. TREMCO SX301 Fast Set Latex Smoothing Underlayment offers fast-setting characteristics and can be laid in thicknesses of up to 10mm, meaning multiple layers were used to level the most irregular areas. TREMCO SF108 Rubber Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Adhesive has been developed for the single-stick application of wall and floor finishes.
