Herringbone Flooring with UFH Installation

The Solid Wood Flooring Company talk us through how to retrofit underfloor heating with the installation of herringbone parquet flooring.

Traditionally, underfloor heating has been most commonly fitted to new builds. However, there is the opportunity to install underfloor heating in many old houses, depending on subfloor and height levels.

The video above shows a recent installation that The Solid Wood Flooring Company was involved in. Firstly, contractors removed old tiles and the cement used to stick them down originally.

They then laid a self-insulating water pipe layout and installed the underfloor heating pipes.

A self levelling compound was applied about 15 mm thick and then after curing the herringbone parquet was fully bonded to this. The chosen flooring for this project was Deep Fumed Oak Herringbone Parquet fitted with Wood Flooring Adhesive SW 890 – a trowel-applied high quality flooring adhesive developed specifically for our timber flooring.

The importance of the crown line being allowed to fully cure can be seen by the perfect installation and final finish of our herring parquet floors.

We believe our finishes are the best in the market as can be seen after all the work has completed. We are continually adding to our range of herringbone and chevron parquet flooring which is becoming extremely popular.

On the Solid Wood Flooring site you can use our Room Visualiser and take some images of your own rooms and then add different products. You can also use the existing rooms as well. However, we feel the best way is to visualise your own room.

We also offer our Impervia Herringbone flooring which is waterproof and fireproof and needs no adhesives or underlay. This floor can be floated on a perfectly flat subfloor and as it has a simple push fit system it is cheaper to fit than engineered herringbone wood flooring.

At the Solid wood Flooring Company, we are proud to be part of the Gone West mission of planting long-term forest in England. Please be assured our prices will not increase because of this.

Our commitment is to plant 4,000 new oak trees every year, and as we use approximately 1,000 Oak trees every year for our Oak Wood Flooring it means we are planting four new trees for every mature tree we cut down.

Once an oak tree reaches full maturity it takes less carbon from the atmosphere so we need to plant new forests and regenerate our old ones.

Many lessons have been taught to us throughout the trying year of 2020, and The Solid Wood Flooring Team are even more dedicated than before, to continue our commitment of sustaining our planet home, whilst creating stunning interior spaces for our likeminded clients.
