NBS, specification platform for the construction industry, has announced its partnership with common data environment (CDE) provider Viewpoint.
The partnership will see the two organisations working together to improve collaboration and integration between architects, specifiers and contractors throughout the design and construction process.
With its new Chorus platform, NBS has brought cloud specification to the construction market, and sees a big opportunity to integrate this with CDEs – cloud-based extranets that host project information. By connecting the data between the two systems, the construction workflow can be streamlined, saving time and reducing errors.
The partnership between NBS and Viewpoint has already been put into practice, with the launch of an ‘export submittals’ feature in NBS Chorus. This allows specifiers to export their submittals (tasks for the contractor to deliver) in a single click, and then import them straight into Viewpoint CDE. Up until now, this has been a manual, time-consuming task, prone to human error.
Sascia Elliott, head of partnerships at NBS, said: “NBS is committed to helping our customers save time and work towards a safer industry. By integrating CDE partners into NBS Chorus we are helping our customers improve their workflow and accuracy. Previously they had to manually create submittals from their spec, and enter them into their CDE. This can now be done at the touch of a button through NBS Chorus. We’re looking forward to working further with Viewpoint on future integrations.”
