Surface preparation Expert N ational Flooring Equipment is showcasing its range of machines at the UK Concrete Show at the NEC, Birmingham today 20 March and tomorrow 21 March, 2019.
At stand I10, the company will present its new ION4K, a unique system that allows construction workers to eliminate airborne dust in response to the increasing pressure from regulatory agencies to manage it.
Breathing in large amounts of silica dust, a by-product of cutting concrete, can lead to diseases such as lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and silicosis. The Health and Safety Executive estimated that over 500 construction workers die from exposure to silica dust every year. The ION4K eliminates airborne dust on a job site and allows construction teams to work safely. Alongside this, it also improves clean-up on a job site, meaning that the finished site is safe and ready for use as soon as possible.
Nick White, UK and Ireland country manager at National Flooring Equipment said: “We have seen an overwhelming response to the ION4K. With most dust collection systems, contractors must wait for dust to settle on the floor, but the ION4K is different. It is a dust control system that charges particles in the air, making them hit the ground faster. This allows contractors to collect dust much more quickly and minimise dust inhalation.
“Unlike many other dust control and collection machines, the ION4K does not produce by-products that are damaging to human health,” White continued. “This makes it a safe way to achieve clean air in a construction site.”.
Nick White and Dave Bigham, National Flooring Equipment’s director of global training, will be at stand I10 to meet visitors, showcase the company’s range of machines and services and offer advice on surface preparation.
