For the 10th Clerkenwell Design Week, taking place from 21-23 May 2019, flooring designer and manufacturer Milliken has joined forces with the Happiness Index to gather opinions from architects and designers. There is a ‘Happiness Booth’ at Milliken’s Berry Street showroom where visitors will be interviewed about their opinions on the impact design has on happiness. The results will be analysed and compiled into a report and released at the end of the event.
There can be no better place to capture the opinions of those passionate about design: Clerkenwell is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet. For last year’s Clerkenwell Design Week the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 34,060 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.
Joe Wedgewood, Chief Storyteller from the Happiness Index explains: “Milliken has enlisted our help to set up ‘The big yellow Happiness Booth’. We will gather feedback from architects and designers at Clerkenwell Design Week. We want to get insight from those ‘in-the-know’ and discover their thoughts on the impact design has on happiness. We will be gathering video responses so we can fully gauge all our respondent’s sentiment to ensure their meaning is fully understood and the project is evocative and human. After we’ve collated all the feedback our AI will transcribe, analyse and segment the video responses back into our platform, so we can create detailed reports that will help us understand whether workplace design really can affect happiness or if it’s just a nicety…”
Wellbeing is at the core of Milliken’s design ethos (creating flooring with superior acoustic performance, exceptional underfoot comfort and embracing the principles of biophilic design). Three days of events at CDW will focus on happiness and there will be wellbeing dens for visitors to explore; offering virtual reality meditation experiences, a stress-busting massage station and refreshments at Milliken’s stunning Berry Street showroom.
The Happiness Index create the tools and insights to visualise the evolving cultural health of organisations. They provide employee engagement surveys and solutions that help clients to quickly identify issues, retain top talent and create a happier, healthier workplace.
