UK specialist in luxury vinyl flooring Karndean Designflooring is joining forces with interior designers in a bid to create havens for NHS workers who are working on the frontline during the Covid-19 crisis.
Design Havens for Heroes is a charity initiative, spearheaded by interior designer Francesca Rowan Plowden, which is centred around giving back to the NHS by offering the heroes on the frontline of the coronavirus outbreak a bespoke room makeover by a professional interior designer.
Francesca explained: “I wanted to offer something to help the cause and the NHS, but felt I had nothing to give, other than to stay at home.
“I realised that our home was our haven, and it was keeping my family safe and cocooned while so many were risking their lives. Later that night, I had the idea, I could help, and that I could help create havens for NHS workers for when this awful time is over.”
In good company with other leading suppliers Farrow and Ball, Colefax & Fowler and Tom Dixon, Karndean will be one of many brands offering products to complement a range of interior decors.
Paul Barratt, Managing Director of Karndean Designflooring, said: “It is a pleasure to be involved in such a fantastic campaign to help the NHS frontline workers who are putting themselves at risk to save lives during this difficult time.
“Many NHS workers are sacrificing spending time at home with their loved ones and families. Francesca’s idea has allowed us to play a small part in helping to create a safe and relaxing environment for our heroes.”
The public can nominate accredited NHS keyworkers on Instagram by tagging @designhavensforheroes or alternatively emailing,nominations@designhavensforheroes.org.uk.
Francesca added: “The support we have seen from the industry, trade and suppliers alike is astounding and it continues. Like the walls, flooring will play an important backdrop to any of the schemes our wonderful designers present for our heroes. As well as being beautiful, it needs to be practical, durable and easy to maintain.”
The incredible designers backing this campaign include interior designer and author of Mad About the House, Kate Watson-Smyth, former editor-in-chief of ELLE Decoration UK, Michelle Ogundehin and DIY blogger and author of Home Sweet Rented Home, Medina Grillo to name but a few.
Internationally renowned interior designer, Nina Campbell, is also throwing her support behind the campaign as an ambassador. As well as home renovation expert, Greg Penn, who will be rallying the trade to get on board to lend a helping a hand.
