A large expanse of Junckers’ solid hardwood flooring has been installed in the Paul Hamlyn Hall at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
The light-filled space is the ideal partner for the dark grey Spicy Pepper Oak floor, adding an elegant backdrop to the smart interior.
Originally built as a flower market, the magnificent glass and iron structure now houses a restaurant and champagne bar where events and performances also take place. A busy public area such as this requires a hardwearing floor which is able to withstand heavy usage.
Therefore, the choice fell on Junckers, whose floors are reliably durable and easy to maintain, ideal for high-traffic areas. Spicy Pepper Oak’s textured surface is achieved by a special hard-brushing technique which removes the sapwood from the outer layer of the timber to reveal a raised structural grain pattern. This has then been enhanced with a deep, dark grey stain.
The naturally occurring structural grain patterns in oak bring a sense of warmth to the large and open hall, complementing the many original architectural features.
Oak Spicy Pepper is a solid hardwood, wide board floor suitable for commercial installations, public spaces as well as residential homes. All Junckers floors are ideal for use with underfloor heating and have a virtually limitless lifespan as they can be sanded and re-finished many times.
The flooring contractors were Junckers’ Approved Contractor PICA Floorings Ltd.
