Interface Honoured With United Nations Global Climate Action Award

Interface Wins UN Global Climate Action Award

Global flooring manufacturer, Interface has been announced as a 2020 UN Global Climate Action Awards winner. The awards programme, spearheaded by the Momentum for Change initiative at UN Climate Change, showcases climate change leadership by nations, businesses, investors, cities, regions and civil society as a whole.

Interface is one of 13 award-winning organisations recognised for innovative efforts to address climate change and help drive forward progress on many other sustainable development goals.

The manufacturer’s project: From Mission Zero to Climate Take Back: How Interface is Transforming its Business to Have Zero Negative Impact  was chosen as the winner in the award’s Climate Neutral Now category, which highlights efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by measuring and reducing emissions.

Jon Khoo, Head of Sustainability (EAAA) at Interface, said: “The award is a fantastic achievement and reflects Interface’s pioneering spirt and a commitment to sustainability that started twenty-five years ago. We are so proud of the team and everyone who has supported us on our journey so far. With the next 10 years so crucial in tackling global warming, it is important to celebrate net zero solutions and provide reasons for hope, as our founder Ray Anderson said, to find ways to be a rainbow in a cloudy sky.”

Key Interface successes in sustainability include: reducing the carbon footprint of its carpet by 74% since 1996, and reducing the intensity of market-based greenhouse gas emissions at Interface carpet manufacturing sites by 96% since 1996.
