Harvey Maria has introduced a new programme of training courses, in partnership with FloorSkills. The new two-day courses are held monthly at FloorSkills Training Centre - Europe’s largest independent training facility, based in the West Midlands – and the programme is personally supervised by leading UK trainers, Matt Bourne and Matt Bowles. Course content is tailored for forward-thinking retailers looking to ‘upskill’ their specialist fitting teams, with a focus on pattern and creativity.
The new training programme has been developed in response to industry demand and growth in high end design-led LVT. Innovative patterns and lay-outs have created new fitting challenges and the course is designed to take fitters’ skills and confidence to new levels.
Harvey Maria’s Founder, Mark Findlay said: “Given that many of our most eye-catching designs require more attention to detail than just about any other LVT, the course represents a great opportunity to upskill. It’s been noticeable that many of the more experienced fitters have given the most positive feedback - I’m convinced that it’s a real game changer.”
During day one, the course focuses on installation of designer patterns, borders and inlays. Then, on the second day, there’s a focus on creativity and what can be achieved using a wide range of Harvey Maria designs. All those attending must already be familiar with the principals of LVT installation and have completed formal subfloor preparation training; this enables the course to concentrate on the specific installation requirements of a Harvey Maria floor.
The course also explores the use of the correct adhesives, as well as the required cleaning and care methods. Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout - and fitters receive certification, as well as the addition of ‘Trained Fitter’ status alongside their Harvey Maria web listing.
