Following the success of 2022 when Floor Trim Systems won a Flooring Innovation Award for TrimAce, demand for their unique expansion gap trim rocketed. Not only has the company since expanded the list of materials TrimAce is available in, they have also added a range of finishes so the expansion joint suits most new and existing commercial floors and walls.
David Sharp, director of Floor Trim Systems & IDL UK, looks forward to 2023. He said: “It is set to be the busiest year to date for Floor Trim Systems, we have big plans to launch our trims in new markets, we’re working on various tenders and NBS specifications all whilst developing new trim designs.”
Manufactured in the UK this innovative floor trim is typically made out of two pieces of aluminium and filled with absorbing foam so it can move with the floor unlike silicone, cork or cover strips. This movement joint doesn’t require any bonding, it’s simply pushed into a rebate by the floor fitter, not only saving time but also the number of subcontractors on a site. It is suitable for wherever an expansion gap is required and can be used between many interfaces such as timber/stone, timber/carpet or against solid elements including walls, mullions and partition glazing. In addition, it can be installed as an edge or joint finishing trim in noncritical connections and if needed it can be taken out, reused, replaced or resprayed without having to remove the flooring, making it a more environmentally friendly option.
Dan Galleni, senior design manager for Overbury, used TrimAce in the fit out of the Brunel building in London. “We needed a solution which covered the expansion gap between the wood floor and partition glazing. It needed to be neater than silicone, sit flush with the flooring whilst still being practical and look sleek”, he said. “TrimAce was manufactured and installed quickly, giving a high standard finish, resulting in another happy customer.”
Whether you are looking for a movement joint trim for a new project, a floor trim to be retrofitted around the perimeter of a room or a product which creates a modern finish between different interfaces we have a solution.
