Designer Contracts, the UK’s largest flooring contractor, starts 2022 with the news it has just completed a round of pandemic-busting spending.
The Chesterfield-based company, which has successfully traded throughout the coronavirus crisis, has invested £500,000 in the future of the business with additional racking at its national distribution centre in Kettering and upgrading the company’s IT systems.
Managing Director Peter Kelsey said: “Our strategy has always been to invest heavily in significant stockholding levels – and given current supply issues, this has never been more important. It gives customers the reassurance of knowing that whatever else they might struggle to source, flooring needn’t be one of them.
“As a company we took the decision last year to significantly increase our stockholding from the £2m pre-Covid levels to £2.75m. The additional racking has enabled us to further increase this to £3.4m. Our investment in IT will also result in improved customer facing efficiencies.”
Operating across 15 regional outlets throughout the UK, Designer Contracts is also on a recruitment drive to fill more than 20 vacancies.
Peter said: “The past 20 months have been incredibly challenging for anyone running a business, but we remain committed to taking the company forward.”
