A Barnstorming Project

Designer Contracts completes housing development with the carpet supply and fitting

Designer Contracts has helped to complete a new housing development with the supply and fitting of quality stain-resistant carpets.

When Designer Contracts, the UK’s largest flooring contractor, was invited to get involved in an exclusive rural development of 11 new family homes, it signalled the start of a unique two-year installation project.

The just completed development of stunning stone-built barn conversions and new builds in the popular village of Palterton in Derbyshire was done by Chesterfield-based D J Atkinson Construction – located just a stone’s throw from Designer Contracts’ own head office near the town.

Designer Contracts’ sales manager Lindsey Haystead said: “The Highfield Farm site is an impressive barn-style scheme involving the conversion of former agricultural buildings and very individual new builds with high specification finishes. It is all set in a popular rural village location with open-plan living, landscaped gardens and surrounded by open countryside.

“It was a really beautifully executed scheme which we were delighted to have been part of and involved laying approximately 2,500m² of carpet through the 11 houses. We used our Solar range throughout the houses which involved some quite long landings and different floor levels. We chose Solar because it is a stain-resistant, two-ply twist which looked amazing when it was installed.”

A spokesman for D J Atkinson said: “Designer Contracts were reliable and professional throughout the installation. They tailored the flooring specifically to suit our barn conversion project and we are delighted with the flooring they have installed.”
